A characteristic finding is a macular rash on the palms and soles, often described as “copper penny lesions.” Genital exam may reveal a solitary or multiple painless ulcerations due to the necrotizing vasculitis of the syphilitic spirochete. Diagnoses is by serology, since RPR and VDRL and fairly non-specific.
